About the Stud Farm Community Group
The Stud Farm Community Group was formed in December 2009 from the former Stud Farm Residents & Tenants Association which was originally formed in June 2006.
The area it covers includes Ellesmere Port Town Centre from McGarva Way in the east to Whitby Road in the west, Stanney Lane in the south and Cromwell Road in the north. It includes all residents and tenants of houses and flats privately or council owned.
The original association was formed as a direct response to the residents demand for better communication and consultation with the councillor’s and other local agencies.
The new Community Group will continue to ensure the community is informed on all matters that may affect them.
It was generally felt that the issues raised by residents were totally ignored during the planning of ASDA/Market/Cromwell Road Car Park, the Civic Square, Fire Cover and the residents parking arrangements.
When Aldi put in its plans for a new store, a group of residents got together as the store was planned for a totally different location to the outline planning consent. After a successful meeting with the store owner’s and planning officer’s the group managed to force a rethink, and as result the store is now to be built in its original plot.
As a result of all this the Stud Farm Residents & Tenants Association was formed, a constitution was drawn up and presented to Neston & Ellesmere Port Federation of Tenants & Residents Association [NEFTRA] and registered, with the election of its first committee consisting of Chairman - Maurice Brookes, Secretary - Eric Robertson and Treasurer - Gwen Manning.
